Laser Hair Removal – Pre-Treatment Instructions
To help you achieve the safest and most effective results, please follow these guidelines before your laser hair removal appointment.
Please DO:
- Shave the treatment area 12–24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax or pluck.
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, lotions, creams, oils, deodorant, sunscreen, or perfume on the treatment area.
- Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing if your treatment area may be sensitive afterward.
- Let us know if you have started any new medications or if your medical history has changed.
- Inform us if you have a history of cold sores (for facial treatments), recent skin infections, or if you may be pregnant.
Please DO NOT:
- Do not wax, pluck, thread, or use depilatory creams for at least 4 weeks before treatment. Shaving is the only recommended hair removal method between sessions.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
- Do not bleach the hair in the treatment area before your appointment.
- Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other skin-irritating treatments on the treatment area for at least 1 week before treatment, unless otherwise instructed.
- Avoid applying products containing retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or other exfoliating ingredients to the treatment area for 3–5 days before your appointment, unless directed otherwise by your provider.
- Do not receive laser treatment on skin that is sunburned, irritated, or has open wounds.
